Adding the Flourish ... Updating a Basic Dining Set

This feature segment is focused on helping you find the rest of what you need to complete that room that needs completing! If you followed my first couple of posts on Adding the Flourish, you know this is totally based on the conversation that goes a lil something like this, “I have this great [insert piece of furniture], but I [don’t like the rest of the room, don’t have anything else, can’t afford anything else, etc.]” This feature will show you to create a showcase of inexpensive accessories and paired pieces for a room/furniture example. See last week’s post on how to build up a basic guest bedroom.

This week, in tandem with my holiday party planning series, I wanted to offer up some solutions for a dining area. Specifically, with the popularity of dark finished wood dining sets I have targeted my pieces to complement that style. I know so many people who have that basic table and chair set but feel like having only that set in their dining space is a little sparse.

So, I have created a little collection of items that should add that flair that you are looking for in a dining area. I have paired a lovely dark wood finished lowboy (that is only $159.99!) and a contemporary 8x10 rug from Home Decorators Outlet. Add in a contemporary Chandelier from Home Depot and you will be set with a great Dining Area with storage for under $365. If you need some extra seating for those holiday parties, I have thrown in a great set of two chairs from World Market for $99.

Happy Shopping!

  3. Stopping by from SITS. I think my gene for decorating is defective. I am always in awe of blogs that deal with that sort of creativity. Have a great week!
