Weekend Thrifting (with a Little Deja Vu)

Well the yard sales this weekend weren't doing it for me. So instead I decided to stop by my local Goodwill for their first Saturday of the Month sale. Everything is 50% off! It is fantastic! And I knew what I was looking for when I went in!  I wanted a new lamp.  I have been looking for a new one and I was hoping that this weekend would be my lucky weekend to find one.

And I did!  What do you think??  It was marked $4.99 so only $2.50 for the discount day!

And then, as I was so pleased with my find (and late for a hair appointment), I turned around and was walking out when I was slammed straight into a feeling of deja vu.  Um, hello little oval pictures - haven't I seen you somewhere before??

Yes - those would be identical to the ones I picked up a couple weeks ago at another yard sale.  See below for my original finds.

How in the world I manged to find six of these in one little town in Tennessee is beyond me!  But I am super excited to have six of them to rework in a little collection.

To top it all off I found this beautiful lamp shade at Hobby Lobby 90% off!  It was $3.20 - can you believe it??? I love the lines and the trim work!  Not to mention the nubby linen fabric is just perfect for the living room!

Now beyond all of those bargins, this weekend was Tax Free weekend in TN so I did a little clothes shopping as well!  All in all - it was a wonderfully thrifty shopping weekend.

So what about you?  Find anything good?  And now that you have seen the lamp base and the shade - what color do you think I should paint the lamp base???  I am thinking going ORB to bring out that darker trim on the shade.  Any other recommendations?

  1. Love your lamp. I found a white one just like it at GW a few months ago. I love it too. Your pictures are great, how neat to find more. The shade is wonderful. They are normally so expensive and I always have such a hard time finding one that I like. Yours is fabulous. Great job. Hugs, Marty

  2. Gosh, I spent all day Friday at the Yard SAle and didn't buy a thing! Mostly clothes and sports equipment where I was. Stopped in at a new thrift store and found more nothing. They did have a gorgeous pair of alabaster lamps - for $125! Is this a thrift store or Tiffanys??? Needless to say - did not purchase!

  3. Nice!!! Great scores, and yes yes to the ORB, big fan myself!!! Only bargain this weekend was this: it was the fil's b-day, and for kicks, his family always includes lottery tickets in the b-day card, so we got him some(spent $10) and he won $51, so that was our only bargain, lol.

  4. great lamp, are you going to paint it or leave it as is? and once again, jealous, b/c the local goodwills appear to only have sales on clothing.
