Mason Jars are a basic staple for anyone who does canning at this time of year - but they are also a great craft and decoration staple. So what all can you do with a Mason Jar? Let's explore!

1. Use it as a Centerpiece
I love the idea of sticking flowers into mason jars.  There is just something so rustic and simple about it.  To me the more organic and crazy the arrangement the better.

2.  Turn it into a Hanging Lantern
I know a lot of people in blogland took their turn at knocking off the Hanging Lanterns from PB this year.  I was no exception - here was my version, filled with river rocks.

3. Make Seasonal Luminaries
I love the idea of using LED tealights and making seasonal pathway lights.  Like these spooky Halloween Luminaries that Amanda @ Crafts by Amanda made!  Aren't these adorable and a great way to lead your trick-or-treater's to your door!

4.  Turn it into a Soap Dispenser
Ok - how simple is this.  Drill a hole in the top and put a pump in.  And then you have a great looking vintage dispenser!  Super cute and so easy!

5.  Transform a Chandelier
My uber-talented friend Beth @ Stories of A to Z made this fantastic Mason Jar Chandelier this summer.  How neat is this?

6.  Convert it into an Oil Lamp
I love this idea - you can actually by conversion kits to to this too.  Check out this lamp that Carol @ Raised in Cotton made.  Just love it!

7.  Turn it into a Sewing Kit
Love this Sewing Kit in a Jar from Martha Stewart.  Having a fix it kit like this in your closet?  Now that is a good thing.

8.  Use it for Decorative Storage
I mean storage is what it was designed for in the first place!  I love this hanging storage that I found on Weeping Cherries.  Isn't this brilliant?

Or if you have open shelving it is a great way to store everyday items.

9. Fill it with a Gift
A favorite frugal Christmas gift - recipes in a mason jar are an easy way to make a personalized gift without a lot of cash!  You can find oodles of different ones online if you search but I found a great group here at Squawkfox that includes free printable labels!  You can thank me now that you have all of your holiday hostess gifts covered!

10. Grow things in it
Seriously - if you google Mason Jar Terrarium you will find a ton of ideas and how to's.  Here is a great tutorial on how to make your own terrarium from ReNest.
  Photo via ReNest

There you go!  10 ideas for how to use Mason Jars.  So what about you?  Do you have some Mason Jars you have repurposed around your home?  Any other ideas I have left out?  Anything that has inspired you?  Let me know!  And if you have a project you want to share - feel free to post it over on my Facebook Page!  If you aren't a fan already - you are missing out!  I share all kinds of great frugal ideas and projects!  Hop over and give me a like to stay in the loop!

Sigh. Love them all! Mason jars are fantastic and I have yet to find some great vintage blue ones with the zinc lids at a reasonable price. But once I do you can bet they'll be lining my craft room shelves! Thanks for the shout out friend!

Yes! Love this! I use Mason jars! My favorite uses: at Christmas, I fill with fake cranberries and top with candles, and for my 4th of July BBQ, I set one at each table, stuck a bandana and silverware in it, and then the guests used the mason jar to drink out of!

I use gallon glass jars for cannisters. I am planning on etching the name of each thing on the jars, just haven't gotten to it yet. I also use other sizes to store odds and ends in, as in macaronni or beans or such as that. I would love to have more gallon jars, but my FIL died and we don't buy gallon jars of anything anymore.

My favorite Mason jar use: once a month you will see one on the back of my toilet filled with tampons. My bathroom is an odd shape and there's no convenient storage by the toilet. To me, it's a quick and easy way to always have them available. (And it prevents the conversation with the Mr. on "what time of the month" it is and "if it's over or not".)

I don't have a picture, but my dad used to nail the lids to a beam, put screws or odds and ends in the jars and then screw them into the lids. Great for a workshop or craft room.
