We are gathered here today to perform an exorcism.  (I am really curious to see what kind of search results I will get from this post!)  If you remember last week - I showed you my cute new door sign and our little entryway, which included a not so welcome guest.  The Ghost Child Hand.

It was here when we moved in and I didn't even notice it until we had lived here for a month - which made it even more creepy.  I asked for you guys to give me any tips you might have to help me "exorcise" this hand from brick.  I got a lot of great tips from you guys and one thing that people kept saying was just use sandpaper.  I decided this weekend to give it a try.  So here is the hand at the beginning of the ritual.

I grabbed a sanding sponge and went to work.  I was a little nervous about doing this since the brick is a lighter color that looks like it is tinted or painted from the normal red brick color.  But I dove in headfirst and started sanding.

I then wiped the wall down with some water to wash off the white paint.

The final verdict?  The demon has been released!!  I am so pleased that it came out ok and didn't damage the brick at all!  Though I have to admit - I do glance at it now and then just to make sure it isn't back!  I would seriously have a heart attack!  (Please no one tell my hubby that or he will try to prank me!)

Sometimes it is the little victories that make you feel like you have accomplished something!  I hope this helps anyone that may find themselves with paint splattered brick or if you too have a ghost that you need to exorcise!

Now on a completely unrelated note, I wanted to thank Giorgina from Decor Medley for asking me to do an interview for her site.  She has interviewed a ton of great Home Decor bloggers and I think you would get a kick out of reading those.  Hop over and check out my interview and read some of her past guests!

It looks good. Who knew there would be such an easy solution?

That is a little creepy! Now, do you have a solution when your front door paint fades and leaves a ring where your wreath was? I call it the ghost of wreaths past.

Great job! I am glad that worked out for you. I take it your hubby doesn't read your blog? Or you have just given him the best idea for April Fool's day, so be warned.

I really enjoyed your interview. The economy (man I hate that phrase) has put designers in a little bit of a "situation" too. It's inspiring to see what you've created keeping budget in mind. It's hard sometimes being surrounded by beautiful things you just can't afford (I do get to live vicariously through client's homes at least). In the past I've had the mindset that until I can have what I want I won't do anything. Blogs like yours have inspired me to get my house the way I want within the budget I have to work with. Thanks!

Looks great! Yes, yesterday you didn't notice it, today you do, tomorrow you wonder where it went, lol! I understand, glad the sandpaper worked :)

I'm amazed. I wondered how you were going to do it. So simple! Thanks for sharing!
