Now I don’t know if you have seen all these cute twine wrapped ornaments that have been floating around out there. Cindy at Cottage Instincts had some here and the Sisters over at Shanty 2 Chic also made some cute ones here.

And while I am digging the thrifty nature and texture they provide to the tree, the au natural look is not what my tree has going on this year…

This year, my tree is all about the bling!

So I did a revamp of the aforementioned creations – and added a lil sparkle with some glittery rope ribbon.

First, I used these Styrofoam ortaments from Hobby Lobby as my base. I made a hole in the top using a large safety pin. I then dabbed on a little craft and fabric glue and inserted an eye pin that you can find in the jewelry section.

I then used a straight pin to get the ribbon affixed to the Styrofoam and then started wrapping and gluing.

As you wrap you can also use stickpins to get the ribbon to stay in place. The more sparkly ribbon didn't stick near as well, so I found out that using stickpins to keep the ribbon in place was especially helpful.

Ok – I used lots of stickpins - but it really works and keeps you from muttering bad words under your breath and becoming covered in glue.

I am still working on these bad boys – several are drying as I type. But I will reveal the whole look with my tree this weekend!

Happy Crafting!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! These decorations are gorgeous. We live in a 1 bedroom apartment too, so I know what it's like to try and decorate for Christmas in a small space. Our first two places out here we didn't even have room for a tiny tree, I was so thankful when we moved to a slightly larger place and could get one (it still wasn't even 4 ft tall though!). thanks for sharing these beautiful pieces!

I really like this idea. Brilliant idea to use the pins-cursing while making Christmas decorations just seems wrong, doesn't it? LOL!

Jess, thes ornaments are outstanding! I tend to agree with you -- I like the sparkle and blink this year so your ornaments strike awe and envy in me (haha). I love them all but truly adore the ornament pictured on the right. You are so talented and must have the patience of a saint to get each little strand so perfectly aligned. Thank you for sharing your wonderful idea and inspiration on the Boardwalk Bragfest today!

They turned out great. I've seen them done with the twine before but I like your metallic edition.

Now that takes alot of patience. They are looking great though. Can't wait to see them on your tree.

Merry SITSmas! I'm new to the whole SITS thing but I saw your name and your blog title looked interesting so I thought I'd visit! Neat method of creating texture and interest on a simple ornament. I'm going to go look back a few posts as well!

I think your ornaments look fabulous! What a great idea.
Aren't these linky parties a great idea? The only problem is once you start you can't stop! I will have to come back later to have a good look through your lovely blog. See you then!
Best wishes, Natasha.
