Ok – so those of you who have been reading over the past couple of weeks may remember when I did my post on Picture Molding. I love this idea and being that we are stuck in an apartment due to “the situation” I would love a place that had this installed so that I could hang art and decorate without the pain of having to patch up holes.

Well. I have still been obsessed with this idea and the way it looks. And I decided if I didn’t have molding I might still be able to pull this off – without putting a hole in the wall. Intrigued? Read on dear friend!
To start, I took my easy romantic word art from the other day all framed up and gorgeous.
Next, I took some ribbon and tied it onto the back of the hooks on the frame. (And why yes that is my new fantastic bedding making its blog debut in the background.)
Tying three ribbons onto three separate frames can be tricky. My super scientific method of checking the length? Tie it and then hold up to see if it is even.
Now – how am I going to hang these on the wall? With the trusty 3M Command Metal Hooks! (I didn’t get anything to say that – I just generally find them trusty!) I bought both the oil rubbed bronze and the brushed nickel but decided to use the oil rubbed bronze with the dark frames. Don’t worry – I have something planned for the others!
I actually kept the hubby out of the bedroom the whole time I was doing this since the “songs” were his sappy Valentine’s Day present. For those of you who read the other post when he finally saw them he said “Awwwh, you did something sweet!” Yep – I am that girl whose hubby is sweeter than she is! And for the record, he got me the sweetest card that totally sums up where our relationship is currently. He is so good at that!
So here is how it turned out. (Please excuse my lack of much of any real furniture – all the good stuff is still in VA!) I seriously want to make a new "door" headboard - but that will have to wait.
Obviously, I didn’t anticipate changing out the bedding when I bought the mats for these. They are currently dark grey. Do you think I should change them out to taupe? Would love your thoughts!
Also, I have to say that after I finished hanging everything and read the rest of the instructions on the hooks that it does explicitly say – “Do not hang these over a bed.” Hmmm – I guess I will have to recommend that if you would like to do something similar, that you please do not attempt to do this over your bed. (And I will let you know if we get hit in the head)

Those hooks look substantial and really add depth to the whole picture wall. I think you come very very very close to your inspiration photo...no molding and all. Job WELL done.
The only thing I could offer is to hang the hooks at the ceiling to have that same look as the picture. You did a great job!
smiles, alice
I saw that same inspiration photo in a magazine and wanted to rip it out and copy it but then I was chicken to try it. Yours looks great!
This is so cute. We also live in an apartment and I appreciate the idea!
LOVE this!
m ^..^
That is a really great idea, actually. And I just happen to have some hooks - hmmm.
I think you should leave them as is; they look great!
Very nicely done! They look beautiful!
I love those hooks...could use those all the time! I think it looks good dark mats and all
It's hard to judge whether you should change the mat. I would say, try one and see if you like it.
This looks so nice! I like the gray mattes...gives some contrast.
I so need to do this, Jess. Now that I'm finally painting a lot (not just commissions) they're just lying around in stacks. This'd be great down my hallway.
Dontcha love command hooks? Use them all the time for Christmas decor.
Hey, instead of changing the mats - why not just get new bedding? heehee ;)Grey is the 'in' color this year, ya kno.
Great look! I think the taupe mats would look nice and be a lot cheaper than new bedding....which I'd love to have myself, but I'm settling for painting the frames of the photos above my bed!

Hi Jess! I love this idea, so versatile for apartment dwellers with "situations" :). I wouldn't change the mats, unless you went with a pretty dark taupe, the song lyrics wouldn't "pop" as much against something lighter. Awesome!
I think the grey mat sets off the songs nicely! Well done!
I'm hosting a party and would love to have you come over and link up!
